As tempting as it was i decided against a christmas special, although i did start
the show with 'the christmas song' by Nat king Cole just to add a bit of class to
proceedings. I played three of the best from Ray Charles starting with a piece from
his remarkable 'Modern sounds in country & western music' lp from 1962, a brave move by Ray Charles at the time but he felt he could interpret any song regardless of
genre and this comes through on the album.
Some jazz to demonstrate the wealth of talent in Miles Davis' famed mid 60's quintet
I played a solo piece fom the great Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock and also a track
from possibly the best album to come out that line up, 1966's 'Miles Smiles'.
I also played a track off Portishead's brilliant 'Third' album and a nosebleeder
from My Bloody Valentine.
